My older kids have learned to watch their language at dinner bc of M, but her presence doesn't often alter their topics. She is learning to not interrupt, and to not fully make it all about her, so she sometimes has to be creative in stepping into hard to grasp conversations. My kids at the dinner table tonight.... C, "Well, I just wish we actually knew what was next. Like really KNEW if life continues some other way." L, "I don't believe any of that. I think if you die, you just die." M, thinking fast, and imitating their serious expressions without knowing the dry hilarity this would add ... "Yeah, like if you eat, you just EAT. And if you have a fork, you just HAVE the fork." Levity over skepticism secondary to our complicated 7 y/o. ;)
